When a brand carries a city's name in its DNA, the design can't stay surface-level. That was the starting point for the visual identity project for PNK Miami, a graphic proposal developed for two key products in the line: custom lighters and the rolling tray.
The concept: Miami as landscape, not backdrop
Rather than treating Miami as a distant reference or simple label, the graphic work aimed to turn the city itself into the visual protagonist. An illustrated skyline was developed in grayscale, organically blending Miami's most recognizable elements: silhouettes of its iconic buildings, palm trees framing the composition, and small flocks of birds along the horizon all tied together by a hand-lettered "Miami" script logo with a fluid, elegant stroke that signs the whole scene with authenticity.
This graphic system was built to be modular: it adapts equally well to small, elongated surfaces like the body of a lighter and to wider, horizontal formats like the rolling tray without losing legibility or visual impact.
Lighters: small format, big identity
The custom lighter was designed as a collectible piece. The composition combines:
A pink background, PNK's signature color, anchoring the product firmly to the brand palette.
A dynamic pattern in cream tones featuring the word "Miami" in expressive cursive script, running the full diagonal length of the lighter's body to create movement and personality.
A neutral-toned cap featuring the "PNK" isotype in condensed typography, set vertically, adding contrast and brand legibility even in such a compact format.
The result is an object that goes beyond its function to become a desirable piece of merchandise one with its own identity, easily recognizable among other market products.
Rolling Tray: the brand's main canvas
The rolling tray was designed as the centerpiece of the collection the space where Miami's visual narrative unfolds in full. Set against a translucent pink background, the complete city skyline buildings, palm trees, and the "Miami" script logo sits alongside the "PNK" Wordmark in the upper corner, set in bold uppercase to balance the composition visually.
This piece acts as the anchor point of the whole visual system: it's where every graphic element typography, city illustration, color palette comes together in a single format, communicating the brand's full proposal at a glance.
Color palette: pink as language
The entire system rests on a palette of pinks from soft pastels to more saturated magentas that becomes the connective thread across all products. This choice isn't purely aesthetic: pink functions as PNK's identity code, making any product in the line instantly recognizable, even without seeing the logo.
Conclusion
The PNK Miami design proposal shows how a well-built graphic system can turn functional products into memorable brand pieces. By integrating the skyline, palm trees, hand-lettered typography, and a consistent color palette, every object from the smallest lighter to the largest tray tells the same story: Miami's vibrant, warm, and visually iconic essence, wrapped in the color that defines PNK.
